Originaly formed as the Boardwalkers Surf Club in 1965. The name was changed to West Side Surf Cub in 1966 The club in 1969 had use of the old Norwood Bicycle Clubrooms on Commercial Road Pt Noarlunga overlooking Southport and the Onkaparinga river. Lew Jones was the original president of the Board Walkers Club.

The Norwood Bicycle club was formed in 1883 and Had Its official opening on Feb 4th at the Kensington Oval. In 1914 it Built its first Clubrooms on Commercial Road at Port Noarlunga with a view overlooking the Onkaparinga river and the South Port Beach.
